Happy New Year (How to greet your coworkers after December 31st)

As a highly sensitive person, the first week of the new year can be very challenging. On the one hand, it may feel like heaven because the atmospheres at your workplace (or elsewhere!) are often nice and comfortable. People are still relaxed because of the holidays and take that energy to work.

However, the first week of the new year may also cause a lot of inconvenience situations...

Because what do you do when you meet your co-workers?

Do you kiss them on the cheek?

Give them a hug?

A boks then?

Or a high-five?

I have to admit that I had a strategy at work for these situations. You just had to arrive at last. Then, all you had to do was stand in the doorway and say, "Best wishes to you' all!" Then all the people who were there already would look up, smiled gratefully, said, "You too!". And... done.

That gratitude was real, believe me.

I discussed this subject with my colleagues at the office at the time. They shared the same thoughts. Feeling someone close to you who you don't want to be close to feels awkward and most likely, uncomfortable.  

This is exactly the problem.

You cannot determine per person " I give you a kiss but I give you a high five". Maybe that's Dutch office culture, I don't know. It's just how this works over here.

Also.... you simply cannot escape the whole thing. There is always someone -like Bill from accounting for example - who offers his cheek at an unguarded moment under the disguise of a sincere New Year's wish.

That's how I always did a lot of fast "energetic protection exercises" in that first week of the year. By the way, energy-based protection - so important since you are a sensitive person - is the focus of one of my weeks in my six-month program.

I was always happy on Blue Monday :).

If you feel yourself being more tired this week, gloomy, lack of energy & if you feel the absence of the "spirit of the season" from December then...

cleanse yourself energetically with a meditation for example. A simple and effective meditation is the "White Light Shower".

First, breathe deeply several times.

Imagine a white light that has the ability to rinse you completely clean.

If you are familiar with that, you step under your own imaginary shower or waterfall.

Let the Light do its work. :)

Let Spirit (or whatever you call your Source) protect you and make 2020 the year in which you are so connected that you radiate from within.

That is life. That is Innerlicious.
