Who didn't get these comments growing up?
Maybe as a child, you were easily distracted. Found your self stuck in a daydream (or two).
Or you just didn't feel like getting out of your own energy and meeting the needs of a parent of some sort. As we get older, we listen more. We are becoming more and more sophisticated. Rational. Living from the mind instead of the heart.
We have become a "me" that conforms. Like a chameleon, we adapt to situations.
We greet people personally when we come or go to a birthday party. Say 'Have a nice day!' when you leave a shop or so. We answer the phone as we are taught to do so.
We conform to what is considered to be 'nice' and 'polite'. Gradually we start - without realizing it - listening differently. We switch to functional listening.
We listen in order to define the need for someone. Or how we must act in certain situations. Those kinds of things. Sometimes, yes sometimes we can go back to our earliest days.
Treat yourself to a daydream. Or just standing outside with your eyes closed enjoying the sunlight... thinking of nothing at all.

These little moments - the moments before posting the capture of these moments - we listen to ourselves. We do exactly what we want to do. And we cherish that moment.
